Utility - Asset Maintenance Program
S&S Cable offers utilities a comprehensive Annual High Voltage Underground (HV/UG) Maintenance Program designed to ensure system reliability, extend asset life, and mitigate costly outages. Our program is built on decades of hands-on transmission experience, delivering a level of technical expertise, precision, and safety standards that separates us from traditional inspection vendors.
Core Services
1. Manhole & Vault Inspections
Annual visual inspections of all manholes, vaults, and transition structures.
Documentation of cable conditions, splices, terminations, supports, brackets, sump pumps, ladders, and grounding systems.
Gas detection & confined space safety compliance for all entry activities.
Debris, water, and corrosion control reporting with remediation recommendations.
Integration of inspection results into GIS and asset management software for client access.
2. Cable & Accessory Condition Assessments
Inspection of HPFF, XLPE, and PILC cable systems for thermal, mechanical, or fluid issues.
Partial discharge (PD) testing, sheath integrity, and fluid pressure monitoring to detect early-stage failures.
Verification of splices, joints, and terminations against manufacturer standards.
Thermographic scanning to detect hot spots or insulation weaknesses.
3. Preventive Maintenance & Emergency Readiness
Proactive identification of high-risk components for early replacement.
On-site corrective maintenance, including sealing leaks, repairing brackets, and restoring faulty sumps.
Establishing standby emergency response crews familiar with the system for faster mobilization.
Stocking of critical spare parts and joint kits in alignment with client inventories.
4. Environmental & Compliance Support
Dielectric fluid leak monitoring and containment strategies for HPFF systems.
Full compliance with EPA, DOT, and local environmental regulations.
Documentation for utility regulatory audits and internal compliance reviews.
Development of emergency containment plans for manholes located near waterways, railroads, or high-traffic corridors.
5. Digital Asset Reporting
Each inspection linked to digital manhole/vault profiles with photos, video, and condition ratings.
Centralized client portal for real-time reporting, trend analysis, and predictive maintenance alerts.
Compatibility with utility CMMS/Procore integration for seamless data sharing.
